On December 10, 2005, Paramount Trading Jamaica Limited hosted its annual Christmas treat for the children of Waltham Park Road. A smashing success is how some have been heard to describe it.

As always, the treat provided a superb opportunity for Paramount and our benevolent partners to provide not only a pleasant experience for the children of these communities, but also to strengthen community ties and relations.

This year’s treat featured food and drink, snacks, sweets, ice cream and other frozen novelties which were provided to an estimated four hundred children. Entertainment was in the form of music, clowns, painting faces, balloon art, merry-go-round rides and various contests. To end the day’s activities, goody bags filled with educational and fun treats were given to each child.

Also, to further our efforts in strengthening the community, we had a live outside broadcast from Roots FM. This proved most entertaining and enjoyable to all. Roots FM is a community radio station whose aim is to highlight the positive initiatives and activities in the inner city communities. The station is run by Mustard seed Communities and is part of that charity’s ongoing efforts in uplifting the most vulnerable members of society. There were interviews of Paramount staff and sponsors as well as some of the participants in the treat, including some children.
